It’s the last week of the Edinburgh Fringe and as the comedy clubs wait patiently for their many long-lost loves to return from the Scottish capital we make do with more than fine line-ups at XS Malarkey, The Comedy Store and a heck of a deal from NextUp.

Gabriel Ebulu at XS Malarkey | Tue 23 Aug | 7.30pm | £6/3

There’s another cracking lineup at XS Malarkey this week as the Manchester institution continues its excellent August run. There’s an appearance from up and comer Daniel Petrie, amiable comedy uncle Toby Hadoke will guide you through the night as he gently meanders through the recesses of his brilliant mind and a healthy sense of mystery with a headliner to be announced…

The Comedy Store at Freight Island | Wed 24 Aug | 8pm | £8-15

As they wait for much needed maintenance on their Deansgate Locks home to end, The Comedy Store continues its midweek residency at Freight Island where it welcomes some of the best comics from around the country for a hump day lift. Nick Clarke, Danny Deegan, Jenny Collier and Funmbi Omotayo are the acts this week and you’d struggle to find a better lineup for a weekend show, never mind some Wednesday night in August.

NextUp at The Fringe | Sun 28 Aug | various | £30 for a year's subscription

As it’s the last week of the Fringe we can imagine a lot of comedy fans are experiencing some serious FOMO, so why not grab a subscription to NextUp who are streaming tonnes of live shows direct from Edinburgh every day?

There are shows from rising stars like Morgan Rees, Rajiv Karia and Shelf, old pros such as Justin Moorhouse, Tony Law and Shazia Mirza and compilation shows in Late ‘N’ Live and the grand final of So You Think You’re Funny. It’s £30 for the whole year which is more than worth it just to see the sold-out shows The Wrestling (where comedians legitimately wrestle each other at The Pleasance Grand) and a final night performance of Kiri Pritchard-McLean’s new show ‘Home Truths’ on the Sunday.
