The latest bout between those age old rivals of spoken word, poetry and stand-up go head to head at Lock 91 this week. Three poets take on three comedians in a playful fight to the death on Deansgate Locks with Dave Williams, Anna Thomas and Molly McGuinness representing the stand-up side of things. Always a fun night and with proceeds going to local homeless charity Mustard Tree, it’s for a good cause too.
If you can’t wait until October to get your drag fix when the new series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK edition comes to screens you can sate that appetite (and a few others) at Wilson’s Social this weekend. Legs and Bacon sees Narcissa Nightshade and Donna Trump present a brunch spectacular with a dazzling lineup of drag queens, bottomless fizz and a specially selected Drag Brunch Menu. What’s not to love?

That XS Malarkey has been running for over two decades is quite frankly amazing. That it consistently books the best night of comedy (and on a Tuesday!) is even more impressive. You’d expect some drop off in quality, but XS simply refuse to let standards fall and in doing so have made pals with the best of the best in the comedy world. No doubt a slew of them will be joining Toby Hadoke to celebrate XS’s 22nd birthday.
