Stevie Martin and Adam Riches bring their new WIP shows to town, Phil Ellis’ debut UK tour touches down at The Frog and Randolph Tempest headlines Blizzard to kick off a great week for live comedy in Manchester.
Comedy previews continue at the old Runaway Brewery site on Dantzic Street with two exciting acts trotting out their new work-in-progress shows up North for the first time. If you’ve seen an hilarious video on the internet skewering modern life, chances are Stevie Martin made it, and if you’ve been trying to put your finger on who that award-winning comic was who did the uncannily spot on Sean Bean impression, then that’s Adam Riches. They’ve both got new bags of tricks to pour out for you on Wednesday night and more tickets have just been released. Have at it.
It seems odd that Phil Ellis’ latest tour show ‘Hedgehog’ is also his first ever UK tour. The staple of the UK comedy scene has been a familiar face since lampooning and horrifying kids shows with his Funz and Gamez back in 2014 but this will be the first time he takes his solo work out on the road. His most personal show to date, Hedgehog sees the master of the subversive Kaufmann-esque comedy show let his guard down for some hilarious personal anecdotes. It may be his first tour, but hopefully it won’t be his last.

Fans of SOS Comedy and Three Minute Theatre are in luck this Bank Holiday Monday as Randolph Tempest (aka character comic Peter Slater) will be at The Castle Hotel to address the ‘snowflakes’ that attend Blizzard Comedy. SOS’ accessible and eclectic lineups served as a forerunner for the excellent Blizzard Comedy and its host Jonny Collins will be hoping to bring some of that bizarre magic back when introducing failed thespian Tempest for a bonus Easter treat.
