As the lockdown continues to stretch out into its third week, more and more live-streamed events are popping up for people to take part in. We’ve picked out a few of the best free things to do at home this week to help you pass the time, including Modern Meditation sessions, a Spoken Word Poetry livestream and more.

Modern Meditation | Beanddo | Mon 6 Apr | 9am - 10am

Maintaining mental wellbeing should be a top priority at the moment and you can start your week off in a balanced and refreshing way with live modern meditation sessions every Monday morning. The sessions take place at 9am and are hosted and led by Mick Timpson, an international senior meditation teacher and author and Briony Gunson, a mindset coach and modern meditation trainer.

Article 19 Live | Loud and Proud Arts | Mon 6 Apr | 12pm

Article 19, a new multimedia performance exploring the United Nations Convention on Rights for Persons living with Disability by Janet Charlesworth, will be available to stream from Monday – Friday this week, at varying times across the weekdays. The performance explores historical attitudes and treatment of people living with disability and during the screening, you can even comment live and interact with your friends.

Write and Release Spoken Word | Zoom | Wed 8 Apr | 7.30pm - 9.30pm

Looking for a little arts and culture from your living room? Write and Release Spoken Word is a chance to see (and even perform) some spoken word poetry via Zoom. With Sarah Pritchard performing as a special guest, and the chance for the audience to share their own poetry and prose in a supportive environment, this is a great chance to interact with an engaging live performance.

House Party Livestream | DJ James Hollingworth | Wed 8 Apr | 6pm - 9pm

With chances of going out in the near future looking unlikely, House Party Huddersfield are bringing the party to you, taking requests and facilitating a house party atmosphere within the lockdown. DJ’d by James Hollingworth, it’s the perfect opportunity get a group of friends online and take the chance to unwind with a few drinks and some good tunes.

Jane Eyre | National Theatre at Home | Thu 9 Apr | 7pm

The National Theatre are continuing to release a new play to stream live every Thursday during the lockdown, bringing great theatre into the homes of everyone during this difficult time. This week, it’s Jane Eyre, adapted by Sally Cookson and starring Nadia Clifford – make sure to tune in on Thursday at 7pm.

Quingo Live | Facebook Live

This quiz and bingo mashup, hosted by Christopher Dresden Styles, will take place on Facebook Live and feature three sets of pop culture questions, mixed up with a few games of bingo. All you need to take part is a pen, some paper and your mobile phone number  – play on your own or get a team together via Skype!
