Regular spoken word night FLIM Nite returns to Gullivers this Monday, with a take on the testosterone-fuelled 1997 Nicolas Cage action classic Con Air. The pitch of FLIM is that they invite a roster of comedians, poets and other performers to provide their own spin on scenes from a famous film. For this instalment, they’ve got a packed bill including novelist Anthony Trevelyan and theatremaker Ross McCaffrey. The event is pay what you feel on the door, but advance tickets can be purchased to guarantee yourself a seat.

Printing Demo at John Rylands Library | Tue 5 Nov | 11am - 11.30am

On Tuesday morning, you can see a demonstration of one of The John Rylands Library’s impressive printing machines. The ornate Columbian printing press, manufactured in London in the early 19th century, is a unique slice of publishing history, with only a handful of presses still in use globally. A real treat for history and literature buffs alike.
