A day of speech and discussion at the Burgess Foundation and a pop up jungle in Salford are just two of our top picks of free things to do in Manchester this weekend.
The International Anthony Burgess Foundation presents a day of performance and politics this Saturday. The Manchester Forum is a collection of six new works from new political voices who’ll be presenting their work and leading a discussion. This year’s forum will include contributions from composer Liam Grogan, Preston-based poet David Hartley and multidisciplinary artist Angel Rose. Attendance is free, but booking ahead is required.
On Saturday night, local garage surf rockers the Fruit Tones will be putting down their guitars and picking up some turntables as they host this free club night at multi-level Charles Street venue YES. Natural Selections promises to be a club night full of eclectic music picks to get your weekend pumping.

Salford is transformed into darkest Peru this weekend as Studio 10 on Booth Street becomes a jungle. They’re hosting this indoor plant sale all through the weekend, where you can pick up some fresh foliage at a reasonable price – with some houseplants available for as little as £2 – all supplied by renowned international horticulture chain Bergamotte. They’re also offering unique containers and plant pots to match to your greenery.
