A DJ set at YES from former Smiths drummer Mike Joyce is just one of our picks of free things to do in Manchester this weekend.

On Friday afternoon and evening, you can catch Manchester music legend Mike Joyce, as he performs a DJ set at Charles Street venue YES. The former Smiths drummer will be digging deep into his personal record collection, to bring a banging playlist of tunes from the past 40 years.

Superhero Day at Fan Boy Three | Sat 28 Dec | 10am - 7pm

This Saturday marks Stan Lee’s 98th birthday, and even though the master of Marvel passed away at the end of 2018, Northern Quarter nerd hub Fan Boy Three is still flying the flag. They will be hosting this Superhero day, full of board games, miniatures games and role-playing games – all with a superhero slant. Some of the events on the day will set you back a bit, but many are free, so this is one that’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a comic’s fanatic.
