October is looking a little different than usual this year – but then, what isn’t? There are still plenty of things to get up to in Manchester, whether that’s tuning in to something online from the warmth and comfort of your own home or braving the colder weather for a classic autumnal activity like wandering round a market with a cup of something hot. We’ve rounded up the best free things to do in Manchester this week, including a cocktail masterclass from Absolut vodka and a free Monday Night Fever online yoga class.
This speaker series from the University of Manchester, Alliance Manchester Business School and Masood Entrepreneurship Centre invites the UK’s leading entrepreneurs to share their experiences of business and enterprise. This week, business owner and designer Cath Kidston will talk about moving from her background of interior design and styling to owning her own iconic, highly successful brand. The event will be streamed via Facebook Live, so anyone can tune in and hear directly from the person behind one of the most recognisable design brands around today.
Waitroses & Partners, in collaboration with Absolut Vodka, are responsible for bringing this specialist masterclass directly to your own home via Zoom. The virtual experience will be led by Simon, a brand ambassador for Absolut and an expert in transforming ordinary people into skilled home bartenders. You’ll learn how to make an Elderflower Collins and an Espresso Martini – two drinks that are guaranteed to impress – and everything you need to create this cocktails at home is listed on the event page.
The hugely popular Levy Market is the perfect place for an October wander — and it’s high time to make a start on some Christmas shopping. Ethically conscious and eco-friendly beauty brand Wild Venus have a stall there this Saturday, selling their ceramics, wax melts, soaps and pins. They also offer a gift wrapping service at the stall, so you could get a real head start on both shopping and wrapping — make sure to stop by, and check out all the other amazing local sellers at the market too!
