A free bouldering session run by North Face and a night of improv comedy from the LGBT Foundation Women’s Programme are among our picks of the best free things to do in Manchester this week.

Whose Line Is It Any-Gay?? | The LGBT Foundation | Tue 10 Mar | 7.30pm - 9pm

Inspired by the popular TV show, this event (for all self-identifying women) will prompt a panel of Manchester’s funniest performers into a series of short improv games. Featuring comedy duo Toots and Leigh, and Jade, Kate and Robyn from murderincimprov, if you”re after an evening of laughs think up a few prompts and drop by.

Artist Talk with Takahiro Iwasaki | Salford Museum and Art Gallery | Wed 11 Mar | 6pm - 7.30pm

Contemporary artist and sculptor Takahiro Iwasaki will give a talk at the Salford Museum and Art Gallery as part of their series of talks inspired by The Superlative History of Japan exhibition. Iwasaki has exhibited internationally, and represented Japan at the Venice Biennale in 2017. You can see his renowned series Out of Disorder on display at the exhibition in Salford.

Joy Crookes Live | ibis Manchester | Wed 11 Mar | 7pm - 10pm

Joy Crookes (recently nominated for a BRIT award) will be bringing her soulful R&B sounds to a gig at ibis Manchester. With support from genre-hopping Tobi Sunmola, and indie psychedelic synth band VELVET SHAKES, you can catch some real up-and-coming names in the music industry at this intimate gig.

If you’ve always wanted to try bouldering, this is the perfect event for you. Run completely for free by Never Stop Manchester, two coaches will be on hand at this beginners session to help you get to grips with climbing and meet like-minded active people who want to push themselves.
