There are a load of cracking free events taking place at Aviva Studios this week now that it’s home to a custom-built public skate plaza.

Partnering with Manchester’s most influential skate communities, Build Manchester will be hosting a series of free events that celebrate skate culture both on and off-board.

Expect open-to-all skate contests, skate school, product launches, exhibitions, film premieres and workshops as well as the chance to see adidas’ global team riders skate the plaza.

Swing by Ramona this Wednesday for a three-hour DJ set brought to you by Manchester-based Drum and Bass maestro, Jade Louise.

Known for bringing a saucy selection of Jump Up & Rollers to dance floors across the country, this extended set will be taking in all the best House, Garage, Bassline and, of course, Drum & Bass.

Head to the adidas Run Club this Thursday to get your blood flowing while meeting some new like-minded runners.

The run will be led by Josh from the popular community run club, Run MCR, so whether you’re training for your first big race, one of many, or simply looking to make some new pals – this is a great chance to improve your fitness while trying out something a little different.

Queens: The Exhibition & LS Lowry Collection | The Lowry | Fri 2 Aug | Various times

Swing by Salford Quays this week to see The Lowry’s exciting new exhibition celebrating the multi-award-winning hit musical SIX, including for the first time in this country a display of all SIX iconic costumes from the show.

The family-friendly gallery exhibition will also feature creators Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’ original notes, ideas, scribbles and Instagram photos of the first rehearsal as well as set designs, scripts, behind-the-scenes films and fan art.

Playful Protest Space | People's History Museum | Sat 3 Aug | 10am - 5pm

Head to the People’s History Museum’s Gallery Three where you’ll find a dedicated family-friendly area where activism can be explored through craft and play.

The Playful Protest Space, which will be open throughout the summer holidays, includes games to play and films to watch that are all inspired by the museum’s collection and the spirit of making a difference.
