A perfect way to break up the week, get yourself over to Manchester’s centre of all things artsy, HOME, for an incredible free feature screening documentary.

The short film, Bam Bam, follows Sandra – a 50-year-old female boxer who has been professionally fighting for over 18 years. Taking a more introspective dive into the world of sports, this documentary seeks to show how brutally beautiful boxing can be and how you can do whatever you want, no matter what age you are.

Check out one of Stevenson Square’s coolest spots this Friday for A Modest Evening with Ruby Tingle, taking place at SOUP.

A perfect way to kick off the first weekend of August, the evening promises an eclectic mix of visual art, stellar scran, music performances all to be washed down with DJ sets by Dirty Freud.

Presented by No Such Thing & PAPER Gallery, the evening will showcase, celebrate and welcome artists from the Axel Obiger Gallery in Berlin and start off the amazing collaborative exhibition between two artist-led galleries from Manchester and Berlin.

Even better? Specially designed complimentary cocktails will be available on arrival on a first-come-first-served basis.

Start off your Saturday evening down at The Whitworth to see a powerful story unravel between two brothers pursuing their dream of being professional dancers.

The tale follows the siblings, from inner-city Hulme, and details the things they experience throughout their journey. Seamlessly weaving together the mediums of poetry, rap and Hip Hop choreography – the story is a beautiful piece of immersive expression.

The event is part of the Black Gold Arts Festival.
