The sun is shining and the pints are most definitely flowing as we enter June. To properly kick off the summer season, there are heaps of great stuff going on that won’t set you back a thing at all.
From Italo Disco all-night affairs over at Ramona to a sustainable repair fair making its way to the Manchester Museum – here’s our rundown for the best free things to do in Manchester this week…
Kick off your weekend in style down at Ramona where you’ll find some of the grooviest Italo Disco, Tech House and World Music until the early hours.
Brought to you by Manchester collective and record label, Good Custard, alongside Even Funkier, Ben Banjo Field, Jade Edwards & Munro – it’s the perfect start to the weekend.
Support the city’s local music scene this Friday night down at Band on the Wall to see Northern Grooves – a music collective which was birthed out of two northern lads’ passion for soul music and fashion.
Mixing the traditional with the contemporary, Isaac and Olly are sure to get the dance floor bouncing with a huge helping of Northern Soul.
Sunday is the final day to catch the solo show by artist filmmaker Chris Paul Daniels, Is there anybody there? at HOME.
For this exhibition, Daniels sourced 70 different films from the North West Film Archive at Manchester Metropolitan University to create a monumental study of cultural traditions, procession and ceremony — and it’s made for a pretty mega viewing experience.
End the week at Tib Street’s famed jazz bar, Matt and Phreds, and catch The Amazing Tiger Band – dubbed as “a critically ignored, multi-purpose funk/hip-hop loop pedal artist and idiot.”
The Amazing Tiger tells audiences they can expect “a bunch of songs they don’t know, and probably won’t like. But. like… kind of in a cool way.” Sounds like a good Sunday.
