Still recovering from splashing the cash over the festive period? You’ll be chuffed to know there’s still a whole load of things to do in and around the city that won’t set you back a single penny.

From world music sets in an audiophile basement tucked away in the heart of Ancoats to a very special takeover at YES – check out our rundown for the best free things to do in Manchester this week…

Blues Jam | Matt and Phreds | Mon 8 Jan | 8pm - 11pm

Start the week with a cheap and cheerful jam night over at Tib Street’s favourite little jazz bar.

Whether you rock up with a steel guitar, bass or any other instrument you can find, or just your vocal chords, this is the perfect opportunity to show the crowd what you got. Alternatively, pull up a chair and just enjoy the talent on stage.
