Scarves are officially back in, and after an unbearably warm September it’s nice to finally get into the full swing of cosy season. For those not tucked up in bed before 10pm, The Deaf Institute are throwing a three-floor party soundtracked by its spectacular roster of DJs. Expect bargain drink deals and a different genre of each floor, spanning hip-hop, indie, alternative, drum and bass, jungle and more.
Legendary bar and brewery Northern Monk is celebrating 10 whole years of beer at its Tariff Street home this Friday. The free party will feature free limited-edition glasses, which the bar staff will fill with your Northern Monk tipple of choice. There’ll also be a DJ, birthday cake and a couple of not to be missed surprises as you make your way through the brewery’s excellent line-up of IPAs, stouts and session beers.
It has been over five years since Private White opened its doors for a sample sale, so if you’re after a fancy new winter coat stick this in your diary. Purveyors of fine outerwear since 1853, the brand handcrafts its garments right here in Manchester and this Friday Private White will be offering a treasure trove of items with up to 80% off. There’ll be classic pieces alongside never seen before designs, and Pollen Bakery will provide pastries and coffees to hungry shoppers across the afternoon.

A new exhibition by Turner Prize-award winning artist Lubaina Himid is peeling back Manchester’s layers to unveil never seen before parts of the city. Through four unique installations that span paintings, moving image, drawing and sound compositions, the artists unveil geological, historical, environmental and political undertones of the north – inviting the viewer to look closer at and engage with what’s around them.
