From dub techno chess clubs over in Stretford to a full-evening set by local legend Levi Love at Bar Shrimp – here’s our rundown of the best free things to do in Manchester this week…
Swing by Stretford Mall this week for volume six of the Dub Techno Chess Club, which will be returning to Rainy Heart for a session of echoing hypnotics and blundered queens. Expect deep rhythms and high-stakes match-ups.
Get yourself over to Bar Shrimp this Thursday to see DJ, producer, and founder of the grassroots record label Mas O Menos, Levi Love, take to the decks.
With over 20 years of experience, Levi’s style fuses his South African roots with his Manchester dwelling, creating a unique blend of deep house textures and funk-infused African beats.
Head to Blues Kitchen this Friday night with Hip-hop, R&B and Afrobeats playing upstairs while Soul and Neo-Soul will be blasting downstairs. There will be DJs on until 3am, too, for anyone up for a late one.
Lockup Vintage is putting on a cracking Super Sale at Stevenson Square’s PUBLIC this Valentine’s Day.
They’ll be treating Y2K and 90s-era clothing lovers to a huge end of season sale, under £10 rails & the £5 bins. There will also be a live DJ, 00s themed cocktails and 20% off drinks for anyone who purchases an item.

CUPRA City Garage will be hosting CONDUCT CONVENTION this week, a headline live conversation hosted by Manchester MC and producer Strategy. The event welcomes The D.O.C. for a rare public appearance and live discussion.
The D.O.C. is widely recognised as one of the most influential writers in hip-hop history. A key creative force behind N.W.A., he helped shape landmark releases including Straight Outta Compton, before going on to work closely with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg on era-defining records such as Nuthin’ But A G Thang.
Framed as an open conversation rather than a traditional talk, CONDUCT CONVENTION brings together artists, producers and creatives for discussion, questions and shared insight.
