There are a whole bunch of things to do in and around the city this week that won’t hurt your wallet in the slightest.
From a brand-new exhibition over at The Whitworth all the way through to a full evening affair down at Ramona – be sure to read on to check out our rundown of the best free things to do in Manchester this week…
Brought to you by the lovely lot behind Rare Finds Flea, head over to Freight Island for a night of thrifting with a whole bunch of second-hand traders.
A haven of second-hand furniture, vintage decor, funky fashions and a load more trinkets and treasures – why not have a little peruse around the stalls and pick up a cheap deal or two?
Get yourself over to the home of frozen margs and Detroit-style pizza to kick off the weekend the right way with Manchester collective and record label, Good Custard, spinning all the grooviest Disco, House, Italo and Funk into the early hours.
Joined by Jade Li, Jaegerossa (Midnight Riot) and Alex Goodall (Clean Cut) – this is definitely shaping up to be a good one.
Kick off your weekend with Sparkle’s Trans and Queer joy march through Manchester’s LGBTQIA+ village.
All about creating a sense of community and spreading joy through unity with some fantastic queer artwork on show – this short march is a great way to spend your Saturday morning.
In proud partnership with the LGBT Foundation, head to The Whitworth this Sunday for a guided tour of the acclaimed (Un)Defining Queer exhibition, which examines how we can use a Queer lens to define what the term ‘Queer’ actually means.
The exhibition – full of some incredible photography, drawings, wallpapers, print, video, mixed-media art and more – offers a fantastic way to round off the week.

Make your way over to Salford’s Working Class Movement Library this Thursday to catch the Northern Poets Society, which will be exploring the theme of class and its impacts.
A short and sweet evening – this is a great way to check out the second city’s local poetry scene and support the work of such a cracking venue.
