We’re now finally nearing the end of the first month of 2024 and, to help cure those stubborn January blues, we’ve got a handful of cracking events around the city that won’t blow the bank.

Game of Thrones Quiz | The Wishing Well | Wed 24 Jan | From 7pm

Didsbury’s The Wishing Well will be throwing a special Game of Thrones Quiz this Wednesday, bringing the global phenomenon to our own South Manchester suburb.

With 73 jam-packed episodes, even the most seasoned quiz heads will be put to the test as resident quizmaster, Tom Kelly, schools you on your knowledge.

A host of prizes will be available for the winning teams including bar tabs and a meal for four.

Open Mic 4 Mental Health | Feel Good Club | Thu 25 Jan | 3pm - 5pm

Head to Northern Quarter’s Feel Good Club this Thursday for an open mic night all about promoting positive mental health and wellbeing through music.

Whether you rock up with your choice of instrument, dust off those vocal chords or simply sit back and watch – this is a great cause to throw your support behind.

Head out to Sale this weekend to catch artist Roxana Allison’s photography exhibition, Hope. Despair. Miracles.

The project includes portraits, landscapes and written word showcasing Longsight in southeast Manchester, inviting viewers to recognise the agents of change genuinely transforming people’s lives in multicultural working-class neighbourhoods across the UK – reminding us to never judge a book, or a place, by its front cover.

Be sure to swing by Kerb this Saturday for their first exhibition of the year by Manchester-based artist, Jamie Reed.

Check out the launch party, support the local creative scene, sip some wine and beer (non-alc options included for all you Dry Jan lot) and brighten up your January.

Remote + Friends - Taylor Kerr, J.keir | Ramona | Sat 27 Jan | 6pm - 1am

If you want to go out-out this weekend then look no further than Ramona for a cracking double header with some friends of the collective that’ll be sure to keep you grooving for the entire evening.

The evening’s events will commence with a takeover of the MOT station where Taylor Kerr will be heading proceedings followed by The Distant Future later joined by Remote regular, J.Keir as well residents Deep Hertz and Deary.

Even better? The night will then take attendees to a secret after-party location where you’ll all be joined by some more local selectors until the early hours of the morning.
