Ducie Street’s CULTUREPLEX hosts a free Twelfth Night blowout party this Sunday. Just one of our top picks of free things to do in Manchester this weekend.
More gaming on Saturday, as eccentric Hulme pub the Old Abbey Taphouse hosts this N64 gaming night. The Taphouse will be setting up the 23 year old Nintendo games console for a night of competitive couch gaming with the likes of Mario Kart and GoldenEye, and the promise of free brownies for whoever can beat the pub’s chef at the latter. There’ll also be board games – if you don’t fancy cramming around an old CRT telly.
Get out of the city this weekend, as this Sunday is your last chance to catch Jodrell Bank’s fascinating, family-friendly Shared Sky exhibition. The exhibition draws from native art across the world to look at how the stars have inspired artists and storytellers for millennia.
Ducie Street all-caps art warehouse CULTUREPLEX hosts this event on Sunday evening to celebrate the 12th night of Christmas, and they’re offering up considerably more than just 12 drummers drumming. This five-hour party includes music, drinks and arts and crafts, so you can let your inner child free and get creative with artist and curator Bren O’Callaghan.

On Friday night, New Wakefield Street bar and night spot Brickhouse Social – formerly a Black Dog Ballroom – hosts this free ‘pool party’. You won’t have to bring your swimming costume though, as the ‘pool’ in question is the game played on a felted table. Alongside a night of heavy latin beats and club bangers, the venue are offering you the chance to cue up for free. Jump in, the water’s lovely!
