Opera North present their unique electrifying twist on three classic operas at The Lowry this week.

Kicking off their latest season on the Salford stage, the acclaimed theatre company present the bittersweet fairytale The Cunning Little Vixen. Dubbed as a five-star ‘corker of a show’ by The Times, the unmissable production takes audiences on a journey through the cycle of life via one of Janáček’s greatest works. There will be two performances, one on Tue 7 Mar and a schools-only matinee on Wed 8 Mar.

Next up, on Fri 10 Mar, is Ariadne Auf Naxos. Directed by multi-award-nominated Rodula Gaitanou, the tale follows an opera company and comedy troupe who are forced to reluctantly combine their two productions, resulting in a storyline equal parts comic, heroic and romantic, set to some of Strauss’ most renowned pieces.

Finally, a night of thrilling drama arrives on Thu 9 Mar and Sat 11 Mar, in the enthralling story of Tosca. Sublime one moment and gut-wrenching the next, Opera North promise edge-of-your-seat action throughout as Puccini’s soundtrack immerses onlookers into one of the all-time greats of the stage.
