We all need some cheering up at the moment, as well as something to look forward to. So why not have something cheerful to look forward to? Live comedy ground to a halt last year after the first lockdown and though there have been a few events that managed to go forward, most have been pushed to late 2021. Here we’ve rounded up some of the best comedians bringing their touring shows to Manchester and Salford later in the year.

Stewart Lee: Snowflake/Tornado | Tue 29 Jun | 7.30pm | £12.50

Never one to do things by halves, Stewart Lee returns with two hour long shows back-to-back for a mini-residency at The Lowry in Salford. One of the all time greats, it’s always worth catching one of Lee’s shows – that you can catch two is all the better. After the year that we’ve had it’ll be interesting to see what one of the finest comedic minds in the country made of it.

Sindhu Vee: Alphabet | Wed 29 Sep | 8pm | £20.50

As a mother to three kids it’s small wonder Sindhu Vee tweeted ‘I want to gig’ at the end of last year. With the announcement of schools closing she’ll no doubt be looking forward to these scheduled outings even more. Her new show is about the hair we want, the friends we have, and living the vast difference between virus and viral.

Dane Baptiste - Chocolate Chip | Sat 23 Oct | 8pm | £12-14

Dane Baptiste has a justified chip on his shoulder and after a summer dominated by Black Lives Matter movements across the world he’s ready to vent about it. One of the country’s most exciting stand-ups, Dane has become even more unapologetic and his comedy is all the better for it. No holds barred expected.

Jayde Adams: The Ballad of Kylie Jenner's Old Face | Sun 7 Nov | 8pm | £15

A chance to see one of the most talked about comedy specials of 2020, Jayde Adams takes on the E! channels’ most famous exports and what they’re doing to young women and feminism. Most recently seen hosting the likes of Snackmasters and Crazy Delicious on Channel 4, Adams is on the verge of become a stratospheric star so it’s well worth checking her out in The Lowry’s studio doing what she does best while you can.

Katherine Ryan: Missus | Sat 11 Dec | 8pm | From £32

Katherine Ryan is back on tour to prove that her marital status may have changed but her unapologetic swagger never will. This brand new show is her first since the 2019 special Glitter Room and after the release of her Netflix sitcom The Duchess. A welcome return to the live stage and a great way to end the year.
