Salford singer-songwriter Jess Kemp has been performing weekly live stream gigs during lockdown over on her Youtube channel. In a bid to keep playing and making music until she can get back on stage in real venues – this Friday 12 June will be the sixth weekly live stream Jess has done. From 9pm, you can catch her live from her living room (or garden, weather permitting) and be sure to shoot any song requests you may have over on her socials: Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.
Despite the physical event being cancelled, the guys over at Download Festival have gone all out and instead bring us Download TV – a virtual 3-day festival packed with exclusive footage, unseen performances and interactive content. Across the long weekend, Download TV will split its action into daytime and evening sessions with hours of live music for you to enjoy. Those due to headline – KISS, Iron Maiden and System of a Down – will still be involved, not to mention plenty of other acts such as Deftones, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Creeper, The Darkness and loads more.There will also be cookalongs, Q&A’s with artists, tutorials and much more for you to check out. You’ll be able to view the action via Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Viewing is free, however any donations are appreciated and will go towards NHS Charities Together. Keep an eye on those socials for updates on schedules and times.
Another summer festival cancelled – yet the fun doesn’t have to stop. Absolute Radio are bringing us a virtual Isle of Wight with Front Room Festival – a weekend of music featuring sets from Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, The Who and more. Kicking off from 7pm on Friday 12 June, you can catch legendary performances from the IOW archives, including David Bowie’s final UK performance when he closed the festival back in 2004. You can listen this weekend by heading to Absolute Radio or head to their website for more details. Sky Arts will also be showing 30 exclusive and iconic performances from IOW festival archives each day over the weekend Friday 12 June – Sunday 14 June from 7pm to midnight.
The mayors of Greater Manchester and Merseyside will go head-to-head in a Battle of the Cities this weekend. Andy Burnham and Steve Rotherham will battle it out with a charity DJ set in a bid to prove whose city has the best music. Brought to you by United We Stream GM, each mayor will play an hour-long set featuring legendary acts from each city including Madchester and Merseybeat-era hits, as well as more up to date tracks. Viewers will be invited to vote for the winning city by leaving a comment while making a donation. Proceeds will go towards community groups and other organisations that have been affected by the coronavirus shutdown. This will be shown via the United We Stream GM official website. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for the exact times to be announced.

Northern Quarter venue Matt & Phreds continue to supply us with our daily live music fix. Every evening this week, the jazz club bring us a livestream gig via their Facebook page and their website.
