That’s it, 2023 is a wrap. Here’s our last few recco’s of the year, and a couple picks from 2024 to get you hyped.
Erol Alkan has been one of the most influential British DJs of the last 30 years. If this doesn’t whet your appetite, I don’t know what will. “It’s that little point of time between Christmas and NYE which can always be in danger of ending up quite dull so we wanted to put on an intimate and beautifully intense party in one of the cities best venues”. Support comes from none other than indie/electronica outfit Working Mens Club’s frontman, Syd.
DIY collective, Partisan bring in the new year with another shindig which is sure to run well into 2024 – there are seven of Manchester’s most exciting DJs playing including aNNA, fresh off the back of all-night set at Partisan at the start of this month. Discounted drinks and tickets are available for members from the Partisan website.
Frazer Ray continues his five-date residency at Withington’s XLR, this time inviting Danish-born DJ/producer Main Phase for a night of breakbeat and garage this January. Main Phase is known for running his imprint, ATW with Interplanetary Criminal as well as his prolific output of uniquely bass-y cuts on some of the biggest labels on the scene including Shall Not Fade and Dansu Discs.
23 Degrees invite two of the new school of jungle’s resurgence for a headline b2b down at Oxford Road’s Canvas. They’ll also be joined by Nala, the Manchester/London-based DJ hot off the back of a Keep Hush debut at the Loft where she fired through footwork, jungle and techno.
