The August bank holiday weekend is always a busy one in Manchester, with Pride seeing the world’s most exciting queer acts hit the rainy city and this year is no different.

This August Bank Holiday sees inimitable disco and house don, Motor City Drum Ensemble, hit Blues alongside local cult hero, Ruf Dug. Now going by his own name, Danilo Plessow has continued his 20-year celebration of all things soulful, most recently with his new disco label Space Grapes, which has released a string of deeply authentic funk and boogie, which feels infinitely more innovative than it does nostalgic.

You&Me 8th Birthday: Quest & Christian AB | The Love Factory | Sun 27 Aug | £12-25

Josh Baker’s deep house label and party celebrates its 8th year with a massive day and night party, beginning in the Love Factory’s courtyard with two of the scene’s most exciting DJs, Quest and Christian AB. Hot off the back of their set at Hide and Seek Festival, the pair are known for their lively b2bs which are both deep and uplifting. They make way for an after-party at the Loft with You&Me signees, Local Dub.

NYC’s DJ Wawa’s disco, house and techno selections on NTS and the Lot Radio have finally brought them to the UK. Sets at Field Maneuvres festival and Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh are eagerly awaited ahead of this Sunday’s Pride Party with Kiss Me Again down at Soup. Support comes from KMA residents, David, Antoin and Matthew Rothery.

This November sees prolific producer, remixer, musician and DJ, Kaidi Tatham bring his unique blend of soulful and sometimes wonky broken-beat, disco and house to BOTW. Releases as part of 4hero, Bugz in the Attic and 2000 Black Family make Tatham one of the UK’s most celebrated artists and a guaranteed party-starter as a DJ. Support comes from Mercury-nominated, Emma Jean Thackray, whose DJ sets reflect her futuristic take on jazz and soul, and local electronic dance act, Werkha.
