Manchester’s veteran selector Luke Una celebrates the second volume of his É Soul Cultura compilation down at his regular Homoelectric haunt, inviting some of the finest disco and house DJs around. First up is legendary producer, Maurice Fulton, known for his weird and wacky but straight-up disco/house slammers. They’re joined by A Love From Outer Space’s Sean Johnston and Ruf Dug, which makes for a suitably chuggy affair all round.
Blackpool and Manchester promoters, Éist return to Stage and Radio, this time inviting two exciting selectors in the shape of 0161’s very own Aletha, who brings an eclectic mix of all things acidic, and Tia Cousins, a London based DJ with a penchant for wonky sounds from every corner of house music. Éist resident, Finn Doc supports.
This November sees three promoters take over Warehouse Project for a night of drum’n’bass, garage and 140. Headlining are none other than the inimitable Andy C and Sub Focus, while Skepsis and P Money bring the energy on the concourse, topping a bill of Crucast staples including Darkzy, Serum and Flava D. Garage People take over the Archive, with 3 special b2bs and host of UKG’s finest running ’til 4am.
London’s ever-present Joy Orbison has been top of the UK game for over 10 years now, something that became all the more apparent when he put out a bunch of unreleased demos from 2009/10 a few weeks back. Why they never saw the light of day we’ll never understand, they slap just as hard as Hyph Mngo. He hits Soup for a headline set, joined by some of Manchester’s finest, Scapa, Tamus and Zuri.
