A new night with Hannah Platt, a double preview featuring Jonny & The Baptists and a drunk retelling of Jurassic Park in this week’s comedy picks.

Mamoun Elagab and Jonny & The Baptists at XS Malarkey | Tue 4 Jul | 7.30pm | £6/3

XS Malarkey are back with another excellent double preview featuring the musical comedy talents of Fringe favourites Jonny & The Baptists and rising star Mamoun Elagab. The latter will be making his debut appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe with new show ‘Why I Love White People’ and is hotly tipped for big things after a string of appearances in big comedy competition finals. This would be an excellent time to get in on the ground floor with a future star!

Hannah Platt at Hooch Comedy | Wed 5 Jul | 7.30pm | FREE

Hannah Platt headlines a free night of comedy at 33 Oldham Street this week called Hooch Comedy. Not only will the brilliant Platt be at the top of the bill, there’s exciting Manchester talent all the way down with the likes of Michael Mannion, Adam Anwar, Daisy Jeavons and more. They’ve also got cocktails at 2 for £10 so if you want to spice up your midweek activities you’d be a fool to miss it.

Drunk Classics: Jurassic Park at Zombie Shack | Fri 7 Jul | 7.30pm | £10

It’s 30 years since Jurassic Park was released at the cinema and in that time we doubt there’s been a version such as this presented. There’ll be two teams of improvisers retelling the tale from Isla Nubar, one of which will be getting increasingly drunk as the performance goes on as an audience based system decides when they have to do shots. It’s a hit in Berlin and Madrid and is about to take off over here. If you’ve got the stomach for it and love a dinosaur misadventure then get down and grab a drink!
