Manchester comedy of the week FT Celya AB, Gary Delaney and Mr Chonkers

Comedy club Just The Tonic debut a new evening of stand-up in Altrincham at The Bowden Rooms with a frankly ridiculous lineup. Not only will King of the One Liners Gary Delaney be hosting proceedings, but he’ll be joined by local legend Hayley Ellis, rising star Dan Tiernan and hosted by the delightful Rob Rouse. Hopefully the first of many more.

Celya AB is one of the best joke writers of her generation. That she’s achieving such an accolade in her second language makes the French stand-up all the more impressive. In her second show Of All People not only is Celya throwing out more casual bon mots but she’s getting more personal, showing a side to the impeccable gag-smith folks might not have seen before.

There are word-of-mouth hits at the Fringe and then there is Mr Chonkers, which has been the talk of the festival whenever LA-based clown comic John Norris comes to town. Primarily the talk has come from other comedians, telling all who’ll hear that you have to see this show. We don’t know what to expect but when enough people tell you it’s a banger of a show you simply have to listen.
