Final previews from Robin Morgan and Tom Lawrinson plus an extra chance to see Hayley Ellis’ tour show Hayley’s Comic all feature in this week’s pick of must-see comedy shows in Manchester.

Tom Lawrinson at Fierce Bar | Tue 30 Jul | 7pm | £8

It’s the night before the Edinburgh Fringe and all across the country comedians are squeezing in one last preview. One such is Tom Lawrinson whose excellent new show Buried Alive (and loving it!) is at Fierce Bar this Tuesday. Tickets sold out pretty quickly but there is a waiting list if you want to take a chance. If not, go and see him in Edinburgh as Tom’s always a real treat and this tale of life in Spain and family antics is a belter.

Fierce Bar, 57 Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1NA
Robin Morgan at XS Malarkey | Tue 30 Jul | 7.30pm | £6/3

Robin Morgan is another sort, sliding into town for one last preview to close out XS Malarkey’s incredible work-in-progress season. The night is billed as ‘Robin Morgan and friends’ so you’ll no doubt be treated to a few of his funny mates as well as usual ringmaster Toby Hadoke. Not a bad way to head off to the Fringe.

53Two, Arch 19 Watson Street, Manchester M3 4LP
Hayley Ellis at The Frog & Bucket | Sun 4 Aug | 7pm | £12

Eschewing the Fringe in the best possible way is Hayley Ellis who will be performing her 2023 show Hayley’s Comic as a bonus after a sold-out performance the weekend just gone. Ellis is a gem, a masterful storyteller and one of the best crowd workers you’ll see on the circuit. The latest show looks at body confidence when ageing, family holidays, and dinosaurs. Tickets won’t hang around for long so treat yourself this Sunday evening.
