Dan Nightingale’s new tour show ‘Special’ is at The Lowry, Jain Edwards presents a new drag/comedy/scratch night known as North Wave and Andy White headlines XS Malarkey.

Andy White at XS Malarkey | Tue 19 Sep | 7.30pm | £6/3

A nice mix at this week’s XS Malarkey as they welcome circuit favourite Andy White to headline the show at 53Two. Alongside this briliantly energetic veteran of club comedy, XS are still promoting the stars of tomorrow with Hannah Platt, James Heath and Marie Golbourne all in the ascendancy and gracing the supporting bill.

53Two, Arch 19 Watson Street, Manchester M3 4LP
North Wave at The Kings Arms | Thu 21 Sep | 7.30pm | £8

A term coined to describe the rising group of Manchester and Sheffield based alternative comedians ‘North Wave’ has taken on a life of its own with this mad new night from an artist at the vanguard of the movement Jain Edwards. Out of the ashes of the short-lived but much-loved The Jain Edwards Show, she will be hosting another variety extravaganza with each show based around a different Northern trope. The topic this month? A VHS copy of Brassed Off. If this piques your interest even a little bit, head down to The Kings Arms for Jain’s wild ride featuring some of the area’s best and brashest. You won’t be disappointed.

The Kings Arms, 11 Bloom St, Salford M3 6AN
Dan Nightingale at The Lowry | Sun 24 Sep | 8pm | £20

To finish the week we have another circuit favourite who over the past few years has managed to smash through into huge tours on the back of his world-famous podcast Have A Word. Dan Nightingale has always been one of the sharpest and most entertaining stand-ups around but it was only after he and co-host Adam Rowe created their HAW empire that he was able to turn it into national tours and solo shows. His latest ‘Special’ is sure to be just that, and a handful of tickets remain for The Lowry this Sunday. Go see one of the best there is, at the top of his game.
