An Edinburgh preview double bill from Leila Navabi and Priya Hall at XS Malarkey’s last show in Canvas is the highlight of our comedy week.
Blizzard might be back in their old home but XS Malarkey are shortly moving to a new one as they bid farewell to Canvas after a short stay with an absolute banger of a double bill. Priya Hall and Leila Navabi are two of Wales’ most exciting young comedians and Navabi is fresh off the back of a nod from The Guardian and their pick of the Fringe. She brings an anarchic punk musical-comedy show to this preview whereas Hall will pay tribute to her grandma in ‘Grandmother’s Daughter’ in a debut hour of oversharing and brilliantly funny stand-up. A great send-off for XS.
Master of the one liner Mark Simmons brings his latest tour show ‘Quip Off The Mark’ to The Stoller Hall for a huge show for one of the greatest pun crafters around. Seen as the heir apparent to Tim Vine with his short bursts of fanciful wordplay there’s nothing that Simmons can’t create a joke out of. This time he’ll be using these one liners as building blocks to tell the story of his life after his parents sold the house he grew up in and he found a box containing trinkets from his childhood.

Romanian comic Radu Isac heads to Manchester at the top of a pretty special bill for this month’s Blizzard. This will be the free, inclusive comedy night’s first show back in their old haunt of Gullivers after a brief stint at The Castle over the road. Joining Isac you’ll find Saeth Wheeler, Stephen Catling, Matthew Williams and Thom Bee all held together by special guest host Bobbie Jones. A free evening and stacked with talent, nothing better on a Monday night.
