Allyson June Smith embarks on her first UK tour, Phil Chapman headlines at Laughienda and Nina Gilligan is making them laugh in the ‘burbs.

Phil Chapman at The Laughienda | Thu 1 Feb | 7.30pm | FREE

Manchester’s favourite new act/new material show continues apace into 2024 with another belting lineup headlined by local(ish) favourite Phil Chapman. One of the best club comics currently working the circuit, Phil’s offbeat crowd work clips have seen his stock skyrocket and lead to a debut tour he’ll be embarking upon soon. No doubt he’ll be mining for more gold at The Laughienda.

Allyson June Smith at Fierce Bar | Fri 2 Feb | 7pm | £12

Another circuit favourite testing the touring waters is Allyson June Smith. The Canadian funnyman has made Manchester her home over the last decade or so and kicks off her tour dates with a hometown show at Fierce Bar on Friday night. Smith is a firecracker, smart as a whip and her barbs will leave marks. Joyous and cutting in equal measure, it’s always a pleasure to see her on stage and it’s great news that she’s spreading her own brand of Cannuck cheer across this country.

Nina Gilligan at Heaton Moor Comedy Club | Sun 4 Feb | 7.45pm | £12

Nina Gilligan leads a phenomenal lineup at this month’s Didsbury Comedy Club with Garrett Millerick, Hollie Noble and Rob Rouse all on the bill. You don’t see many comedy club lineups that good in the city centre, so to enjoy one in the ‘burbs is a real joy, especially if you live near Heaton Moor. Though Nina and co are definitely worth the travel time.
