Phil Ellis headlines a new night at Side Street Studio, Ian Smith’s critically-acclaimed show ‘Crushed’ arrives at Cultplex and Mark Nelson’s tour hits The Frog.

Phil Ellis at Side Street Studio | Thu 8 Feb | 7.30pm | £8/10

Side Street Studio launch their first comedy night and deserve kudos for the amount of talent on the lineup and also for not going for the low-hanging fruit of calling their night ‘Side-splitting’ or something along those lines. Instead, Side Street Comedy is set up with a debut evening that’ll take some beating featuring Phil Ellis, Eshaan Akbar, Hatty Preston, Dean Coughlin and Cameron Jones.

Ian Smith at Cultplex | Sat 10 Feb | 9.30pm | £12

Many comedians like to suffer for their art, Ian Smith decided to go the opposite way and travel to Slovakia to drive a tank over a car in order to get some inspiration for his latest show. And boy, did it work! After gaining a nomination for Best Show at the Edinburgh Fringe, he’s since had a sold-out run at the Soho Theatre and now embarks on his debut UK tour. The first show at Cultplex sold out so quickly that they’ve even added a late-night edition too.

Mark Nelson at The Frog and Bucket | Sun 11 Feb | 7.30pm | £15

Another comic you’d be surprised to hear is only just taking his first steps on a nationwide tour, Mark Nelson has been making folks cry with laughter up and down the country in the clubs for years, and is one of the funniest folks on Twitter too. In the multi-award-winning Scot’s debut tour, entitled All The Best, Nelson brings a distinctive mix of cutting observations, social commentary and hilarious one-liners. One of the best.
