Ria Lina is at The Lowry, Mike Newall headlines XS Malarkey and Manchester’s best new acts are at The Kings Arms.

Mike Newall at XS Malarkey | Tue 3 Oct | 7.30pm | £6/3

XS Malarkey are back at their HOME away from home this week, taking to the First Street once more before their permanent Tuesday residency at 53Two begins proper. What’s more of a home show than one featuring homegrown talent Mike Newall as headliner? A circuit favourite and a man to find the funny in the mundane with a wisened misanthropic slant, Newall is always a treat and here he headlines a cracking XS lineup.

Ria Lina at The Lowry | Sat 7 Oct | 8pm | £15

As seen on the likes of Mock The Week, House of Games and Live at The Apollo you might be surprised this is Ria Lina’s debut tour! Long overdue for such a singular talent, Lina’s latest hour ‘Riawakening’ takes in lessons learned from the pandemic on dating, divorce, parenting and what it really means to be a woman today. Nobody sees the world quite like Ria Lina, the only female Filipina comic working in the UK, and it’s high time everyone started listening.

Cee Cee's Comedy Club at The Kings Arms | Sat 7 Oct | 7.30pm | £5

Also in Salford, you’ll find one of the best weekend comedy clubs that celebrates the breakthrough talent currently working in both cities. Cee Cee’s Comedy Club is hosted by Justina Seselkaite and this month’s offering is chocked full with some of the brightest voices in the Greater Manchester with Molly McGuinness, Eryn Tett and Sam Ayinde being amongst them. At just £5 it is quite frankly an absolute steal, so get down this Saturday to see the future.
