Double act Shelf are at XS Malarkey, Jack Gleadow headlines Blizzard and Tom Houghton brings his latest tour show to The Lowry in this week’s picks from Manchester’s comedy calendar.

Jack Gleadow at Blizzard | Mon 12 Jun | 7pm | FREE

A great lineup to kickstart your week as ‘latter day Lee Evans’ Jack Gleadow headlines a stacked bill including Mary Cross, Ash Preston, Joe Hollingworth and Annabelle Devey. As an added bonus the night will be guest hosted by rising star Umby Winters. The night is free with donations accepted at the end — it’s always an absolute delight of an evening so do yourself a service and get down to The Castle.

Shelf & Harriet Dyer at XS Malarkey | Tue 13 Jun | 7.30pm | £6/3

A couple of excellent previews courtesy of XS Malarkey to continue the early week good vibes as they welcome musical duo Shelf and one woman box of frogs Harriet Dyer. Shelf recently won the Leicester Comedy Festival Award for their Kids Show, and their more ‘adult’ content (not like that pal!) is even better, addressing subjects like gender and sexuality with nuance and banging tunes. Dyer meanwhile (who’s just dropped her most recent show on youtube for FREE!) will be testing out some of her recent trains of thought and if you’ve seen Dyer before you know full well that it’s a train you’ll want to catch.

Tom Houghton at The Lowry | Sun 18 Jun | 8pm | £13-15

The right honourable Tom Houghton heads back to The Lowry with his latest tour show ‘Absolute Shambles’. Having enjoyed viral success with his stand-up videos, Houghton returns to the stage for just his second UK tour and his musings and takeaways from the modern world are as razor-sharp as ever. This latest show takes a look at online fame, and living in an age where everyone is so obsessed with the veneer of virtual contentment, maybe it takes crashing back down to reality to discover where happiness truly lies.
