Sabotage MCR present Manchester’s very own alt rock Manalishi in their biggest show to date at Northern Quarter venue The Castle this Friday 30 July. Joining them from 7:30pm will be Oxford’s Lacuna Common with their first gig in our fair city. Tickets are only £8 so be sure to grab yours quick.
Manchester alt-pop band HI SIENNA headline Gullivers on Friday 30 July. Having released latest single ‘Hail Mary’ just last week, the four-piece make their long-awaited return to the stage with support from Lissy May. Doors from 7:30pm.
Bards launch their newest single ‘Lemon Lick’ with a headline show at Night & Day Cafe on Friday 30 July. The Manchester-based band combine heavy, hard-hitting tones with gentle ambient breaks and soft melodies to create their signature sound. Fellow Manchester group Rilke provide support and tickets are just £6.
Head down to Night People this Saturday 31 July for a celebration of one of the all time great rock, pop and blues bands in the world. The Fleetwood Mac Songbook are comprised of six experienced musicians paying tribute to the iconic group with renditions of all their hits and fan favourites from the likes of ‘Rumours’, ‘Tango In The Night’ and more. Some of the city’s greatest talents come together this Sunday 1 August in a Concert For John. The all-dayer event taking place at O2 Ritz has been put together to celebrate Manchester legend John Hall and everything he’s done for the local scene. With the bill featuring Peter Hook & The Light, Cabbage, Liines, Goa Express, Loose Articles, Dirty Laces, Yellow Brain, Purple Heart Parade, Inland Taipan, Gardenback, Hey Bulldog, La Mode and more to be announced. Not to mention DJ sets from the likes of Dave Haslam, Jason Boardman and Jeff O’Toole – all profits will be donated to The John Hall stage; a new charity which John wishes to be set up that will support grassroots musicians and venues. UK rapper Skinnyman performs his landmark 2004 album ‘Council Estate of Mind’ live at The Blues Kitchen this Thursday 29 July. Joined by a band of London’s finest jazz musicians, the record covers many of the hardships of living in early 21st century Britain but with humour, wit and groundbreaking social commentary.
