Over these past few years, Manchester has become a genuine force in the UK’s craft beer scene, boasting some of the country’s most exciting and innovative brewers.

With the likes of Pomona, Track, Beatnikz and Cloudwater all residing in the city, hop hunters are truly spoilt for choice when picking their next pour.

With that being said, it’ll come as little surprise that there are plenty of beer-inspired events to get stuck into througout the year. Below, we’ve picked out a few of our favourites.

Indie Man Beer Con | 29 Sep-2 Oct

After being put on a pandemic-enforced hiatus, the beloved Indie Manchester Beer Convention will make its long-awaited return this year.

IMBC will be heading back to its usual home, the stunning Victoria Baths, for a full weekend packed with some of the world’s most exciting and innovative indie brewers.

This year’s festival will run from Thu 29 Sep – Sun 2 Oct, with a ticket launch date, among other specific details, expected in the near future.

Manchester Craft Beer Festival | 22-23 Jul

After a wildly successful debut year in 2021, Manchester Craft Beer Festival returns to Depot Mayfield this summer, bringing some of the world’s biggest and best breweries together for a huge celebration of PINTS.

Along with the spectacular pours, Goldie, Norman Jay MBE and David Holmes will soundtrack the festival and a brand-new fire pit cooking concept will be revealed to keep punters fuelled up for the day.

The festival runs across three sessions: 6pm-11pm on Friday, 11.30-4.30pm Saturday or 6pm-11pm Saturday.

Chorlton Beer & Cider Festival | 7-9 Jul

Returning to the charming setting of St Clements Church, Chorlton Beer & Cider Festival is perfect for anyone looking for a greener setting as they sup the afternoon away.

Expect traditional cask ales, world beers, chilled kegs along with delicious ciders and perries galore. The much-loved Vicar’s Gin Bar will also be on hand for anyone after something a little different.

Funds from the festival are also used to support St Clements’ work in the Chorlton community, so you can rest easy knowing you’re doing your bit while getting merry.

Bents & Bongs Beer Bash | 26-28 May

If you fancy a short journey out of the city centre, then the Bents & Bongs Beer Bash at Atherton Roller Rink has become a firm favourite.

Stalls are split into six categories, ciders & perries, real ales, craft corner, Belgian & fruit beers, gin and Prosecco, so there’s plenty of variety for attendees to get stuck into.

There’s also a stellar selection of live music across all three days.

Macclesfield Craft Beer & Gin Festival | 6-7 May

A little further out, but well worth the trip. Over the last 25 years, Macclesfield’s beer festival has made a huge impact on the community, raising more than £300,000 for local charities.

Returning to Macclesfield rugby club, a vintage market run by Windwyays will also be taking place, making the event very much a family-friendly one.

Mancunia Motorcycle Festival | 6-8 May

Admittedly, a slight curveball here. However, whether or not you’re a keen bike enthusiast, the first edition of the Mancunia Motorcycle Festival will boast an incredibly strong lineup on the beer front.

Cloudwater, Manchester Union, Pomona, Rivington and Wild Beer will all be pouring when the event takes over Depot Mayfield, alongside an equally impressive lineup of BBQ hosts, with the likes of Kamado Joe, Reds True BBQ, Jimmys, Bunny Jacksons and Butchers Quarter all manning the grills.
