It’s nearly that time again: when the world turns a little bit spookier, with Autumn in the air and pumpkins on the ground. As ever, Manchester goes to town when it comes to Halloween: here are some of our top picks for things to do.
From October 2-31 Sea Life is transforming into Ascarium. Families will be able to follow an immersive trail, discovering spooky sea creatures along the way and maybe even receiving a treat. From £16.95 for children and £21.95 for adults.

ScareCity is back (although be warned: it’s moved to the Soccer dome, off Trafford Way) promising ‘a spellbindingly satanic experience complete with horrifying live actors, drive through scare tunnel, your favourite horror movies and much more’. From Oct 29-31 you can view a variety of spooktastic films for both kids and adults. £40 per car.
There’s lots of Halloween fun at Reddish Vale this year. From 2-31 October events on offer will include the chance to pick and carve a pumpkin (each child ticket bought includes the pumpkin,) vampire archery, witches’ hat hoopla and a spooky express. There’s also the usual outdoor adventure play area and small animal petting. £11.50 per adult and £16 for children.
The award-winning Bongo’s Bingo is bringing Natasha Bedingfield to Manchester Central on 28-29 October to headline this halloween-themed bingo rave phenomenon. Where people gather for a surreal mix of traditional bingo infused with hands-in-the-air music, raucous dancing, crowd Karaoke and an array of crazy prizes. £25-£27

From 28-30 October, you can experience terrifying tricks and terrific treats on one of East Lancashire railway’s Halloween ghost trains, travelling from Bury to Rawtenstall. There will be tricks, treats and fun for all the family but be warned, there might be a few surprises along the way… like horrible heroes, Count Brian the vampire, Veronica the witch and Zombie Bob, all here to help you avoid those terrible curses. Fancy dress is fully encouraged!
