The South Pier has attractions for all ages, from thrilling rollercoasters, to the Kiddie’s Ride Arena – both of which can be found at the nearby Pleasure Beach amusement park. Rides not for you? For true lovers of the seaside, Ainsdale Beach is the perfect location. The sea goes far out, leaving a massive expanse of beach and sand that’s screaming out to be enjoyed and used for activities like cricket or extreme kiting (if you have the required permit). Those who seek a traditional seaside experience will love St Annes Beach. Quainter and quieter than its nearby neighbour Blackpool, it has a multitude of things to do – including the recent addition of their free Splash Park for little ones. This beach is a favourite of many because of how well maintained it is. Get yourself down there this summer, as this location is surely going to be a popular spot.
Located in Morecambe, Lancashire, this beach is one of the most popular spots on our list and a favourite of those who love beautiful views. Couples can sit and watch the sunset after a calming day on the dunes, or enjoy a stroll by the nearby promenade which features traditional sweet shops, ice cream parlours and – of course – fish and chips. Meanwhile, kids will no doubt enjoy the colourful art installations, puzzles and games which litter the art-deco-themed seafront.

Families that enjoy exploring more than relaxing will really appreciate Formby Beach. There is a lovely, tangled woodland walk leading up from the small nearby carpark to the beach itself, where stunning sand dunes and an abundance of sunbathing spots can be found. This place is a favourite of pets thanks to its abundance of plant and wildlife – but the path is difficult for those with mobility issues, so be sure to come prepared.
