We’re rapidly approaching that time of the year again, and whether that fills you with joy, dread, or a bit of both, a day out spent perusing this year’s tree will no doubt kick the festivities into overdrive.
Below, we’ve rounded up some of the best Christmas tree farms you can find in and around Manchester.
Nestled nearby to the east of Ivy Tree Cottage, Clayton Fold Farm has been serving the Peak District and beyond with over 25,000 trees grown across 17 acres since 1994. Longstanding experts in all things evergreen, the farm offers seven species of tree which guests can choose and cut, alongside pot-grown trees and, for festive fanatics with a spacious front lawn, a selection of 25-foot tall Fir behemoths.

Sale’s one-stop festive shop for fourteen successful years, Woodheys Christmas Trees supply everything from Korean fir to Scotch pine alongside firewood logs, rock salt, sledges and more. Featuring an indoor forest of Nordmann and Fraser firs, Kenyon Hall Farm offers the UK’s most popular tree varieties alongside an opportune family day out – their sprawling acreage contains a shop, cafe, play area and garden centre. For any seasonal arborists with a view beyond Christmas, the farm also sells a selection of potted, living trees with their roots intact.
Nestled on the edge of Bolton’s sweeping Jumbles Country Park, Paul Haley Christmas Trees at Pines Farm has supplied families around Lancashire and beyond with some of the best Scottish trees in the region for over forty years.
From Noble firs to Lodgepole pines and beyond, the legendary tree seller provides both the perfect evergreen for all room sizes and a timelessly traditional yuletide trip, with an onsite Christmas bazaar and snacks available each day to complement the breathtaking views of the nearby Pennines.
Ok, not technically a farm, but a much-loved convenient spot stocking gorgeous Nordmann Firs in the heart of Ancoats. The shop, which is located at 23 Radium Street, will open from Fri 21 Nov, but pre-orders are open now, and you can grab 10% off when ordering before Sat 15 Nov. There’s free delivery, too!
Self-described as ‘forest people who grow outstanding Christmas trees’, Tree Amigos will be setting up in Stretford’s Longford Park from Tue 25 Nov. Sustainability is a massive focus for the team, and any bits of leftover timber get processed into cladding, flooring or decking, and any spare tree netting gets turned into shower scrunchies, which is a nice touch.
Hulme’s beloved community garden centre will have an array of British-grown cut trees, including Nordmann, Fraser and Noble firs, from 3ft to 7 ft, and potted trees around 3ft tall. Open every day until Tues 23rd Dec, with Delivery also available.

Ten miles south of the city, Ivy Cottage Tree Farm grows everything from Nordic Spruce to a range of Firs, as well as pre-cut trees and door wreaths handmade by their onsite florist. Throughout the Christmas season, the farm’s Great Little Red Bus Tea Room – a disused double decker bus converted into a cafe – serves hot chocolate, mince pies and a hearty selection of local produce.
