Record Store Day is always an exciting time for a city shrouded in as much musical legacy as Manchester. Whether it’s super scarce releases and reissues, day parties or DJs you’re after, check out the best of this year’s vinyl celebrations from around the city.
As always, Piccadilly Records will be stocking a wild array of rare and limited releases for RSD 2023. They’ve compiled this handy tick list of what will be available on the day, and everything is on a first-come-first-served basis, so if there is something you like the look of, get down early.
Along with the special stock, there’ll be an impressive lineup of instore activity that features Jason Boardman, Marc Riley, Bay Bryan, Jenna g, Mel Pop and Patrick Ryder.
Just across the way, Vinyl Exchange will also be lining its shelves with a plethora of rare RSD releases. The store will be releasing its full stock list the night before and doors will open at 9am. Again, first-come-first-served and all releases are limited to one per person.
Along with the opportunity to browse hidden gems, Altrincham’s much-loved Tasty Records will be showcasing an exciting array of up-and-coming vinyl DJs from 10am – 8pm. Expect an eclectic mix of genres with a ‘smattering of RSD releases tucked in’.
Vinyl Revival is also in on the sought-after release action, including their special annual release, which this year is from The Hoax, the Mancunian punk outfit with a young Mike Joyce on drums.
Levenshulme’s cycle cafe Station South invites vinyl aficionados to swing by and swap, sell or buy records with Station Sound. Jak & Matteo, along with some special guests, will be on hand to provide a chilled-out soundtrack for the evening. Things get underway at 5pm and run through until 9pm.
While the musical performance isn’t officially a RSD event, Stutter and Twitch is a RSD partner and the beloved Altrincham coffee truck will have a healthy selection of excellent records to peruse as Christian Grosselfinger entertains the garden with his stunning orchestra renditions of popular music.

While the team won’t be taking part in the usual RSD stock, they will be bringing back their all-day party this Saturday after it went down such a storm last year. Promising a genre-spanning lineup that covers a ‘good spectrum of the shop’s sound’, the likes of Boink & Bedlam, Rick Donohue, Maxxitrax, Levi Love and SilastheDon are just some of the names that will be taking to the decks.
