As the clocks go back and the dark nights draw in, our attention has turned unashamedly to Christmas ballads and i indulgences.
A pretty significant part of all that is, of course, getting that tree up.
For anyone wanting something a little extra special from their decorations this year, we’ve picked out a few of the best Christmas Tree Farms near Manchester.

Kenyon Hall Farm makes for a great day out, especially during the festive season when their Christmas trees are available. They have an indoor forest of real trees and two varieties of freshly cut options to choose from, including Nordmann Firs and Fraser Firs. If you’re interested in keeping your tree growing after Christmas, both varieties are available as living trees (with roots) in pots, which could be a great project to take into the new year.
Clayton Fold Christmas Tree Farm comprises 17 acres of land, growing 25,000 trees across seven species. You can go along early (they were due to open on Friday 27 November but will likely now open in early December) and select a growing tree to take home closer to Christmas, or just go along and choose a pre-cut tree or one to be cut on the day. Their varieties include Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir and Noble Fir, and they’re open all the way until Christmas Eve!
Woodheys Christmas Tree is a great spot to cover all your festive needs. In addition to Christmas trees, they also sell other winter products such as firewood, rock salt and sledges — it’s basically a one-stop-shop for the coldest season of the year. Each tree comes with a wooden stand and is bred to be non-drop, making them a low-maintenance but visually stunning addition to your living room this Christmas. Woodheys was originally due to open on Friday 27 November but will likely now open in early December.

Ivy Cottage Tree Farm is located a mere 10 miles from the centre of Manchester, making it the perfect spot to drive out to and browse their extensive range of trees. You can pick up your tree directly from the field — they grow Norway Spruce trees as well as a selection of Firs — or choose from a range of pre-cut trees. They also have an on-site shop with tree decorations, and sell firewood if you’re really hoping to get into the spirit of the season with a toasty open fire. Ivy Cottage Tree Farm was originally due to open from Friday 20 November – but will likely now open in early December, welcoming visitors all the way up until Christmas Eve.
