Alison Spittle takes over XS Malarky, Simon Munnery brings On Tour to Fairfield Social Club and the brilliant Kemah Bob is at Cultplex in our picks of the best comedy to see in Manchester this week.
Somewhat of a living legend of the alternative comedy scene, Simon Munnery continues to churn out excellent hours of thoughtful and insightful comedy and his latest, simply entitled On Tour is no different. Lauded and admired by the likes of Stewart Lee, Munnery is one of the finest gag writers to have graced these shores and shows no sign of letting up.
One of the undoubted smash hits of the Edinburgh Fringe, American-born, London-based comic Kemah Bob brings their debut show to Manchester this Friday. Having supported the likes of Nish Kumar and Hannah Gadsby on tour, and seen on the likes of QI, Comedy Central Live and more, it may come as some surprise that this will be Bob’s debut tour. The US ex-pat is a joy to behold and constantly surprises with their idiosyncratic style. A must see.

The terrific Alison Spittle headlines another stacked XS Malarkey this week that also features new stuff from everyone’s favourite Methuselan BBC TV producer Peter Fleming. Spittle plies a mean trade in oversharing to the point of therapy and her latest work is some of the most heartfelt and soul-searchingly philosophical she’s ever put out. It’s obviously also brilliantly funny, because she’s one of the best comics around.
