Real deals are slightly less easy to come by over December as restaurants and bars gear up for one of their busiest times of the year. There are still deals to be found in the Christmas set menus around the city so we’ve rounded up the best offers for a Christmas dinner this December. There’s extravagant banquets from Tattu and Dishoom, as well as quite reasonable three course offers at Wood, TNQ, and another decadent feast at Alberts Schloss whilst Flok offers a wee nip of Christmas cheer for those not wanting to go full Christmas dinner just yet.
Wood may be on the more expensive side of meals in Manchester but they’ve come in with a surprisingly reasonable menu considering the quality of the food. For £30 diners can get 3 courses of classic Christmas fare done well as well as a couple of less usual appearance. Expect roast turkey leg with all the trimmings but also hake with pickled fennel. If this gets you excited but you’re not sure when you’d fit it in before the 25th, fear not, the menu runs until 4th Jan.
Promising to take the stress out of Christmas right through until the 23rd December is one of the Northern Quarter’s oldest residents, TNQ restaurant. Most well known for its unlimited booze offer when it comes to set menus, the Christmas menu doesn’t have that option (probably thankfully if you’re going with your family) but do offer 3 course for £27.95 at lunch and £32.95 at dinner. There’s turkey, but also another appearance for hake as well as a kale and chestnut roast to keep vegans catered for too. With a bit of salmon at the start and a christmas cake with brandy onglaise to finish you’ll be glad you didn’t fill up on wine too.
Shoryu’s ‘Most Christmassy Menu Yet’ promises a ramen twist on the traditional British Christmas dishes. For £24 diners get a starter, ramen and a desert with options including brussel sprout tempura, bbq pork bun shoryu, and matcha cheesecake to finish. The deal is available right through until Boxing Day though the restaurant is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
If you’re looking for somewhere to feed a large party and you want to make things as simple as possible then Dishoom’s gigantic feast is where you want to be headed. Until Christmas Eve, Dishoom is serving its Christmas Feast for £42 per person and promises that everything is served in plentiful portions. With 9 dishes plus sides and puddings, with the star attraction being the turkey served in traditional raan style, slow cooked over low heat all day, it’s unlikely anyone will be anything other than satisfied.
If you’re wishing to celebrate a bit closer with the Europeans we’re still part of the EU with, you could do worse than head to 63 Degrees on Edge Street. The French restaurant promises to bring a taste of Paris to the Northern Quarter, and if you’re looking for a bit of Jeyeuax Noel then you have a choice between foru courses for £45 or five for £55. No one said Christmas in Paris was cheap, but it is decadent, with Guinea Fowl, rack of lamb, French cheese selection, and chocolate log all on the menu. A deposit is required and the menu is served until 21st December.
A bit of Christmas for those not wanting to go all out on a Christmas dinner before the big day itself awaits you in Flok. Known for their meat and cheese platters throughout the year, Flok go a little bit tinsley in December with a platter featuring Christmas cake, sherry, and a bit of cheese with enough for 2 for just £10.
You couldn’t expect an Alpine themed bar not to host a Christmas spectacular, and Alberts Schloss does not disappoint with an extravagant feast all the way through until Christmas Eve. Themed around Wintermarchen, a concept of a dark winter fairy tale often used as an expression of the perfect winter day, three courses are available for £35 per person. Booking ahead is required and booking far in advance is recommended as Schloss is undoubtedly to prove popular throughout December.
The Midland has always had a bit of a Christmas vibe with its fairy lights outside, and the upmarket hotel’s bistro aims to tempt you into the spirit of the season with their Christmas menu. As is standard, it’s a two or three course option at between £24-£32 depending on the day and the number of courses. It’s turkey or salmon for the meat and fish eaters, whilst the veggies can get a braised king oyster mushroom though we’re definitely going for the full three courses now we’ve spied an eccles cake on the menu. Christmas dinner is served until Christmas Eve.

Chinese meals are a tradition with some people over Christmas as some often stay open on Christmas Day but Tattu aims to mix their modern Chinese cuisine with Christmas in their mammoth group buffets. Starting from £45 per person and with 9 people needed, this is a decadent spread of Chinese food, including wagyu beef in the higher priced group menus. It may be on the pricier side of Christmas meals but if you’re wanting to get to grips with Tattu’s spread of dishes, this is one way to do it.
