Led by founder-member Rod Clements, 70s folk-rock stalwarts Lindisfarne return to Manchester with a brand new tour in commemoration of an unforgettable series of live shows which followed the release of their acclaimed 1977 LP, Magic in The Air. Featuring fan favourites like ‘Meet Me On The Corner’, ‘Fog On The Tyne’, ‘Lady Eleanor’ and ‘Run For Home’, Lindisfarne’s latest nostalgic odyssey recalls the band’s halcyon days with a rousing, foot-stamping festive concert.
The following night, Chris Dean’s Syd Lawrence Orchestra presents Mistletoe and Miller, a Christmassy big band extravaganza which celebrates the inimitable music of Glenn Miller alongside a selection of seasonal classics.
Promising ‘a Christmas celebration like no other’, the Down for the Count Concert Orchestra delivers a raucous rendition of the great Capitol Studios recordings, including Nat King Cole’s ‘Let’s Face the Music and Dance’, Frank Sinatra’s ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’, Ella Fitzgerald’s ‘‘S Wonderful’ and many more, alongside original festive jazz arrangements composed by the Orchestra’s principal conductor, Mike Paul-Smith.
Performing songs from his forthcoming album Christmas Piano, as well as an array of hits from an illustrious classical career, composer-pianist Alexis Ffrench performs at The Stoller Hall on Fri 22 Dec.
Hailed as one of the world’s most popular and evocative classical musicians, Ffrench boasts over half a billion streams and close to three million monthly listeners across various music apps, with an innovative ‘Classical Soul’ sound which mines all corners of the musical cosmos, producing a unique oeuvre which spans Bach, Debussy, Hollywood, gospel and beyond.
