On Sat 7 Sep, the Strictly Smokin’ Big Band present a spellbinding evening of swing magic with a programme featuring the iconic sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. Led by vocalist Alice Grace, the one-off jazz extravaganza celebrates the best of the big band era with songs including Let’s Do It, Time After Time, Perdido and more, as the projected backdrop honours the intricacies and influences of two musical titans alongside their decorated collaborators.

This October, the world-renowned UK jazz vocalist Claire Martin OBE reunites with decorated pianist and arranger Martin Sjöstedt and her illustrious Swedish trio to mark their second collaboration, Almost in Your Arms, a captivating blend of classic jazz forms and contemporary works by Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright and Mark Winkler.

Billed as ‘an extraordinary musical journey’, the new album features an array of guest soloists including Charlie Wood, Joe Locke and ace saxophonist Karl-Martin Almqvist, while the distinguished bassist Nikolas Fernqvist and virtuoso dummer Daniel Fredriksson underscore the magic with precise, propulsive rhythm.
