Here are five exciting events happening this week over at Chorlton Dulcimer. There’s something for everyone in their busy pub quizzes, live music and DJ sets. Let’s jump in!
Refried Beats brings African and South American music to Chorlton every month, hosting informal afro-cuban jams with both established players and those new to the scene. All welcome — get in touch ahead of the event if you want to join the jam.
From folk-pop duo The Dorman Long comes new EP, By The River, launching this Thursday at Dulcimer. Formed by songwriting pair Sam Marshall and Ash Watson — who moved to Manchester after forming the group in Teeside — The Dorman long make folk music with lush harmonies and infectious melodies. Supported at the launch by local bands Quiet Houses and Music by Fleet, this promises to be a special night of folk music at Dulcimer. (Plus, 50% of ticket sales are generously going to the mental health charity Mind.)
Saturday night at Chorlton Dulcimer is soundtracked by Family Affair, local selectors playing a range of funk and soul classics. Not one to miss this weekend.
This Sunday, cap the week off by joining Seamus Cowan and co.’s Irish folk music group, Honey We Three. The perfect recipe for a cosy winter’s evening: delicate guitar parts, folksy lyrics and soothing vocal harmonies.
