This November sees the return of the Manchester Podcast Festival, with live recordings of some of the biggest podcasts around taking place in various venues across the city for the whole month. The line-up encompasses a huge variety of topics, from science to sport – which means there’s something for everyone at this festival. Here are our top picks…
Ever wondered about the facts behind the fiction? Science(ish) takes a look at the real science behind popular culture – previous episodes have looked at Westworld, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and Nightmare on Elm Street, to name but a few. Hosted by Rick Edwards and Dr. Michael Brooks, you’re guaranteed to pick up at least a few conversation-starting facts from this show.
Originally a football podcast, Top Flight Time Machine describes itself as ‘all over the place now’, and doesn’t plan to stick to the traditional format of a live podcast recording, promising ‘extreme physical movement’ from its hosts Andy Dawson and Sam Delaney. Whatever goes on at this event, it’s sure to be memorable (and hilarious).
Desperately seeking for the answer to the age-old millennial question, ‘how do I adult’? Comedians Stevie Martin and Tessa Coates are here to help – there’s no question too trivial for their podcast, which has looked at topics spanning sexuality to small talk.
Bringing their award-winning comedy panel show to Manchester for the first time, Danielle Ward hosts team captains Margaret Cabourn-Smith and Michael Legge as they try to figure out the right thing to do in wacky scenarios.
