This November sees the return of the Manchester Podcast Festival, with live recordings of some of the biggest podcasts around taking place in various venues across the city for the whole month. The line-up encompasses a huge variety of topics, from science to sport – which means there’s something for everyone at this festival. Here are our top picks…

The Guilty Feminist is both hugely successful and hugely entertaining. Hosted by stand-up comedian Deborah Frances-White, the podcast sees a discussion between Deborah and her guests about their goals and difficulties as feminists in the 21st century – it’s guaranteed to both make you laugh and make you think.

Ever wondered about the facts behind the fiction? Science(ish) takes a look at the real science behind popular culture – previous episodes have looked at Westworld, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and Nightmare on Elm Street, to name but a few. Hosted by Rick Edwards and Dr. Michael Brooks, you’re guaranteed to pick up at least a few conversation-starting facts from this show.

Top Flight Time Machine | Tue 12 Nov | 8pm | From £12.50

Originally a football podcast, Top Flight Time Machine describes itself as ‘all over the place now’, and doesn’t plan to stick to the traditional format of a live podcast recording, promising ‘extreme physical movement’ from its hosts Andy Dawson and Sam Delaney. Whatever goes on at this event, it’s sure to be memorable (and hilarious).

Nobody Panic | Sat 16 Nov | 5pm | £10

Desperately seeking for the answer to the age-old millennial question, ‘how do I adult’? Comedians Stevie Martin and Tessa Coates are here to help – there’s no question too trivial for their podcast, which has looked at topics spanning sexuality to small talk.
