We run through the highlights of another busy week of events at Chorlton’s Dulcimer. From live performances to DJ parties to an afternoon poetry reading, here are five free happenings you won’t want to miss.
This Thursday, Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton bring their long-established open-deck party to Chorlton, for both experienced selectors and newcomers who’ve never spun a disc before. With all genres welcomed, Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton is an inviting and friendly atmosphere to bond over your favourite records with new friends.
This Saturday sees the launch of the Alice Zine, a new collection of contemporary poetry and prose by writers based in and around Manchester. Edited by Sally Barrett, who recently oversaw the release of the Flora and Fauna Zine, the publication is themed around the surreal world of Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland. There will be copies for sale at the event, along with readings from contributing literary figures Helen Clare, Tim Allen, and the inimitable Nell Osborne.
Coming up on Saturday night is Moondance with DJ Coops, delving deep into his record collection to play the best funk, soul, afrobeat, latin, R’n’B and more to soundtrack the weekend. From 9pm til late.
