If you missed out on tickets for We Only Happen At Night, the disco ‘n’ drag double-header from Drunk At Vogue vs Cha Cha Boudoir that will kick off the Manchester International Festival, don’t leave the country just yet. There are a pair of hot tickets to be won at Drunk At Vogue: Catwalk on Fri 8 May at Kraak. The theme of the night is fashion of course and punters are invited to arrive to the party dressed to kill. If their look is killer enough they will be plucked from dancefloor obscurity and invited to take a walk on the runway. The winner takes home a pair of MIF tickets and free entry to Drunk At Vogue for life, not to mention a photoshoot and the accolade of the disco. The hostess for the evening is Grace Oni Smith, who introduces her cruel-to-be-kind designer alter-ego ‘Karl Lagerfuelled’ especially for the occasion, while the eagle-eyed fashion scout on the night is local underground legend Joe Spencer (Tranarchy / Joyce D’Vision). As this is Drunk At Vogue it won’t be any ordinary fashion walk-off. Ultra creativity, flair or downright weirdness could well be the order of the night. Couture to anti-fashion, drag to sportswear, bridal to swimwear – or perhaps your birthday suit needs a good airing? You have to be in it to win it. Music comes as ever from Drunk At Vogue residents Greg Thorpe, James Sizen Bell and Thom Docking, who will be mixing the usual disco ‘n’ house with catwalk classics and killer sounds to strut to.
Fri 8 May, Kraak, Stevenson Square, Northern Quarter, Manchester M1 1DB, 11pm–4am, £5 OTD. www.facebook.com
