Heart of the Heatons is a new festival celebrating the activities and arts of those living in Stockport and the surrounding ‘Heatons’. The 10 day festival hosts an eclectic mix of events featuring art, music, film screenings, food markets, Tai Chi, Spanish nights and youth club events – to mention a few – spread across Heaton Moor, Heaton Chapel, Heaton Mersey, Heaton Norris. Aimed at all ages – there is a Mums, Tums & Buggies Family Board Games evening, an Art Attack activities evening for kids, and Tai Chi and Qigong classes for everyone. Some events programmed are regular Heaton events or clubs, so keep your eyes peeled for activities to return to, while others are special new listings for the festival. Musical highlights from the festival include an Alternative 80s vinyl night which invites you to be the DJ, an acoustic night with Manchester musician Paul Hand, and performances by The Whisky River Boys, and the Youth Brass Band for Stockport Heaton Mersey – not to mention a vinyl market by Manchester record label Stutter & Twitch Records. The festival doesn’t have an overall cost, lots of events are free, and ticketed events range from from £5-£20.
